We’re getting close to the end of the year now with only a couple of truly productive weeks left before the holiday season hits full force and things mainly grind to a halt until next month. Here’s how to get the most out of the upcoming weeks and finish your year strong.
First look through your projects and ask yourself: What absolutely must get done by the end of the year? Mark those items as your highest priority and schedule time to complete them. These items are non-negotiable and must get done.
Now go through the rest of your projects and tasks, and figure out if you will have time to get everything finished in the next couple of weeks. If you are like most people, the answer is no. Most of us are juggling so many things, some items are going to have to go on the back burner until next month. Do some serious prioritization and decide which things you will be able to complete before the holidays, and which things can wait.
One way to decide which things to do first is to figure out which ones will give you the biggest reward, and what type of reward that will be. The reward might be monetary: for example if you are a freelancer or contractor, which project can you finish that will give you the biggest paycheck? The reward might be emotional: which thing will give you the most satisfaction to complete? The reward could be relief: which thing will you be so happy to be done with that you’ll feel light and free not having to think about it anymore?
Whatever you choose, finish the projects that will make you feel successful, like you are ending the year on a win. You’ll be able to enjoy your holidays knowing you ended the year on a high note.
