Continuing our series on daily journaling prompts, here is a list of journaling topics for every day in December! This gives everyone some new ideas for journaling, and can help take the pressure off to think of something to journal about every day, especially for people doing our Page Per Day Challenge.

Some days are the same each month:

At the beginning of each month we write our goals for the upcoming month. Even if you did this earlier in the year, things change so it’s a good idea to re-set and update your goals each month. We also write what we are looking forward to this month.

Mid-month we see what progress we’ve made. This is a chance to jump-start any goals that have slipped off your radar and regain focus.

At the end of the month we write about good things/ favorite moments for the month, and evaluate our goals progress to see what still needs work in the upcoming weeks.

All the other days have new journaling topics and writing prompts!

This month will be all about reviewing your year! This will set you up for next month’s DJPs, which will be about helping you determine and set your goals for the upcoming year. By evaluating your year, you will know what progress you’ve made and what you can focus on in the new year.

1: What do you want to do this month? Write your goals for the month, and think about what you need to do to accomplish them.

2: Look back through your planner, journal, and/ or bullet journal for the past year. What stands out to you? Were there significant events, strong emotions, big changes, happiness, determination? Write what stands out to you most from looking back over your year.

3: Think about what your life was like at the beginning of the year. How is your life different now from how it was in January?

4: Is your life now how you expected it was going to be at the beginning of the year? If not, how is it different than you expected?

5: Who were the most important people in your life this year?

6: Who did you spend the most time with this year? Are these the same people in your answer to the question above? Why or why not?

7: How did your relationships change this year? Which relationships grew? Which deteriorated? Why?

8: Are there any relationships you wish could be different from how they are now? In what way?

9: Look back at your progress in work/ school this year. How have you developed?

10: Have your work/ school goals and priorities changed this year? In what way?

11: In what ways have you improved at work/ school this year?

12: What could you have done better in work/ school this year?

13: How has your health/ fitness changed this year? Has it improved or declined? Why?

14: What did you do to try to improve or maintain your health/ fitness this year? How successful were you in these efforts?

15: Mid-month review! How are your goals coming along? What can you accomplish in the remainder of this month?

16: Did you have any setbacks to your health/ fitness this year? If so what were they? What did you do to overcome/ improve them?

17: Look back at what your goals were for this year. What did you hope to accomplish?

18: What were your biggest accomplishments this year? How many of these were part of your original goals, and how many were unexpected?

19: Looking at your 2018 goals again: which of these goals did you complete? Congratulate yourself on a job well done!

20: For the goals you did not complete, why? What were your roadblocks? What kept you from accomplishing your goals?

21: Think about the roadblocks that kept you from accomplishing your goals. What can you do to overcome these in the upcoming year?

22: How did your goals change during the year? Did any of your goals become irrelevant? Did any change direction, timing, or magnitude? (For example maybe you planned to run a marathon in the spring, but had to change plans due to an injury and ran a 10k in the autumn instead. Your overall goal of running a race stayed the same, just the timing and magnitude changed. The success is you came back from injury to accomplish your goal of running a race!)

23: Looking back over your year, what were some blessings in disguise? What happened that seemed undesirable at the time but ended up being good?

24: Describe a time from this year when you overcame difficulty.

25: What are your happiest memories from this year?

26: What risks did you take this year? How did they turn out?

27: What are you most grateful for this year?

28: What will you remember most about this year 10 years from now?

29: Write five words or one sentence to sum up this year.

30: What good things happened this month? What were your favorite moments this month?

31: Month review! How did this month go? Which goals did you complete? What do you still need to work on?
