Month Theme for September 2018: Looking ahead

On the first Wednesday of each month we have a post with the month’s theme. The month theme is something to think about, journal about, include in your daily intentions, and/or be mindful of all month. It’s also a good topic for folks doing our Page Per Day Challenge.

This month’s theme is: looking ahead

Looking ahead is the first step in setting goals. Think ahead to how you want your life to be this time next month, in six months, a year, five years, or your lifetime goals. Just close your eyes and imagine. What do you want to do? You want to do well in your bio class. You want to lose five pounds and/ or gain strength. You want to save money towards a trip.

Whatever it is you want to accomplish, look ahead to the time when you will have achieved that goal. What will your life be like? Picture it in your mind, in as much detail as you can. How will you feel? How will others around you feel? What will you do? What will be different in your life?

The more frequently you imagine yourself succeeding in your goals, the more likely you are to succeed. Throughout the month, do this every day, or as often as you can.

Now, just for a minute, picture what your life will be like if you fail. Not very nice, is it? You won’t do well in bio so you won’t get to do the degree course you wanted. You don’t save enough money to go on that trip and miss out on an important life experience.

Look ahead to how you want your life to be. Now make plans for it. Figure out what you need to do to get there, then take the steps to do it.
