Month Theme for January 2018: Balance

On the first Wednesday of each month we have a post with the month’s theme. The month theme is something to think about, journal about, include in your daily intentions, and/or be mindful of all month. It’s also a good topic for folks doing our Page Per Day Challenge.

I hadn’t planned on continuing the Monthly Themes this year, because it didn’t seem like many people read the posts. But recently a reader asked if I would consider continuing them, and I was happy to oblige because I like them! So I hope you will enjoy the monthly themes this year.

The theme this month is Balance.

It’s easy to feel overloaded with the never ending cycle of daily routines and round the clock connectivity. Take some time to think about ways you can bring balance to your schedule and to your life.

Monday’s post was about reminding yourself to stop or cut down on low-priority activities so you have more time to do things you really want or need to do. If you add activities to your schedule, you have to take something else away so you have time for it.

It’s the same with your energy, both physical and mental. If you are going to spend your energy on something, you’ll have less energy to spend on something else. Think of your relationships: which ones are taking more energy than you want? Which ones would you like to put more energy into?

This is also true of your creative force. How are you spending your creativity? Is there another way you would prefer to spend it?

Draw a mind map or sketch of all the areas of your life in which you could create more balance. What can you take away, cut down, or spend less time and/ or energy on? What do you want to spend more time and/ or energy on?
