On the first Wednesday of each month we have a post with the month’s theme. The month theme is something to think about, journal about, include in your daily intentions, and/or be mindful of all month.
Spring has truly sprung (here in the northern hemisphere) and nature is in its full glory. Study after study has shown that engaging with nature reduces stress and contributes to a positive frame of mind. This is a great time of year to pay attention to what is going on around you in nature.
Even if you live in an urban environment you can connect with nature. Pay attention to which flowers are blooming and where birds are nesting. Take a walk outside and notice as much as you can about your environment. This month pay attention to the moon phases and the position of the sun in the sky. Make an effort to get out of town and go for a walk in the forest, on the beach, along a river, or any natural environment near you.
“In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.” John Muir
I do my best thinking when I’m walking in the forest. Take a small notebook and pen along with you on your walks to jot down all those random thoughts and brilliant ideas that come to you when you switch your brain off and just enjoy nature.
