Continuing our series on daily journaling prompts, here is a list of journaling topics for every day in June! This gives everyone some new ideas for journaling, and can help take the pressure off to think of something to journal about every day, especially for folks doing our Page Per Day Challenge.
1: What do you want to do this month? Write your goals for the month, and think about what you need to do to accomplish them.
2: What are you excited about in the coming month?
3: If you could be any character in any book or movie, who would you be?
4: If you could add a character to any book or movie, who would the character be and how would they change or add to the story?
5: If you could remove any character from a book or movie, who would you remove and how would their absence change the story?
6: Create a fictional world and a backstory for it. Describe the world, and how it came to be in its current state.
7: Create a new and original animal. What would it look like? How and where would it live? What would it eat?
8: If you could change any event in history, what would you change and how would that affect the subsequent timeline?
9: If one aspect of reality were different (for example, if we were all dogs, or everyone had superpowers, etc.) how would you change along with that reality?
10: “It’s no wonder that truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction has to make sense.” Mark Twain Write about a time in your life that was stranger than fiction.
11: If you wrote a fictional story based on your life, who would you include in your story? How would you change the people/ characters? Why?
12: Write about a time or event in your life, but write it from the perspective of someone else who was there.
13: Write your definition of fiction.
14: If you could be any fictional or mythological creature, what would you be and why?
15: Mid-month review! How are your goals coming along? What can you accomplish in the remainder of this month?
16: Describe an elusive feeling (for example the smell of rain, or how it feels to pretend to be out when someone knocks on your door).
17: Write a poem about one way you have changed yourself in the past year. It can be anything from your handwriting to your hair color to your job or anything else.
18: Today is Father’s Day! Write the best advice you ever got from your dad.
19: Write what it would be like if one aspect of weather were different (for example if snow were hot). How would that change the world and the way people live?
20: “Fiction is the truth inside the lie.” Stephen King What does this quote mean to you?
21: Today is the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere, which is the longest day of the year! What would your life be like if every day of the year were as long as today?
22: If you could create any character, what would your character be like? What would they look like? What can they do?
23: Create a fictional city. What is it like? What do the people do there?
24: Write a short story about if people could live in an environment they can’t currently survive in, for example if people could breathe water, or fly.
25: “I like science fiction, I like fantasy, I like time travel, so I had this idea: What if you had a phone that could call into the past?” Rainbow Rowell If you had a phone that could call into the past, who would you call and when?
26: Write about a fictional future where something major has changed. What would life be like?
27: What if you could only say lies? If you were unable to say anything truthful, what would people think of you? What would your life be like?
28: Now use all the characters, creatures, and worlds you created this month to write a short story!
29: What good things happened this month? What were your favorite moments this month?
30: Month review! How did this month go? Which goals did you complete? What do you still need to work on?
