Continuing our series on daily journaling prompts, here is a list of journaling topics for every day in December! This gives everyone some new ideas for journaling, and can help take the pressure off to think of something to journal about every day, especially for folks doing our Page Per Day Challenge.

This month as we approach the end of this year, we will look back over the year and look ahead to the next. These daily prompts will help you evaluate your year and start the upcoming year with optimism and focus!

1: What are your goals this month? What actions do you need to take to complete your goals and finish the year strong?

2: What are you excited about in the coming month?

3: This is a very busy month. What events do you have coming up this month? What do you need to do to prepare for them?

4: Look back in your planner and/ or journal at January. How was your life different then than it is now? What has changed?

5: Look back in your planner and/ or journal through the entire year. What jumps out at you when you flip through the pages? Specific events? Things you did, people you met, places you went?

6: Looking back through your year in your planner and/ or journal, what are the main emotions that come through? Do you get a feeling of happiness looking through your year? Frustration? Both? What else?

7: What were the happiest moments of your year? What made these moments so happy?

8: Looking through your year, do you feel like you accomplished everything you could have this year? If not, what would you have liked to accomplish that you didn’t?

9: Thinking of what you did not accomplish this year, what stood in your way? What were your roadblocks? Did other things take higher priority? Did unexpected setbacks happen? Did you procrastinate and run out of time?

10: Now look back through your planner and/ or journal this year at what you did accomplish. Look at all the steps and work you took to complete each accomplishment. How did you feel each step of the way?

11: Think some more about your accomplishments this year. How were you able to complete them? What sacrifices did you make to prioritize your goals? Maybe you didn’t go out as often to save money. Maybe you had to cut back your work hours to make more time to study. Think about how your sacrifices helped bring you closer to your goals.

12: Think about times this year you thought you would not complete your goals, but then managed to push through. What did you do to overcome your obstacles?

13: What new interests did you take up this year? What did you try that you had never tried before? What was the result?

14: What do you feel you could have done better at this year? Work, relationships, school, health, personal goals: what do you feel like you didn’t do to the best of your ability?

15: Mid-month review! How are your goals coming along? What can you accomplish in the remainder of this month?

16: What new people did you meet this year? How did you meet them? Are you still in contact with them?

17: Which people influenced you the most this year, good/ bad/ otherwise? They can be someone you know in person, an author, a public influential figure, etc. How did these people affect your life this year?

18: How did you influence other people’s lives this year? Were you helpful? Detrimental?

19: How was this year significant to your life? Years from now, what will you remember most about this year?

20: Now let’s start thinking about next year and what you want it to be. If you could accomplish anything next year, what would it be? Why?

21: Look back at what you wrote yesterday. Is your dream accomplishment attainable? What would you have to do in order to reach that goal? How long would it take? What changes would you have to make to your life?

22: What are your long-term goals? You don’t have to be specific, just think about what you want your life to be like in general. What type of lifestyle do you want? Where do you want to live? What type of work do you want to do? What are your family/ relationship goals?

23: Now start thinking about specifics. What can you do in the upcoming year to get you on the path to your long-term goals? (This post can help you break down big goals into actionable tasks.)

24: Today, think about what you want for yourself. What can you do to make yourself happy in the upcoming year? Not instant-gratification happy, but really fulfilled happy. Imagine yourself happy, and write down what you visualize.

25: What do you want your relationships to be like in the upcoming year? What can you do to improve the relationships you have, and make new ones? What can you do to help make the people you love happy?

26: You knew this was coming: how can you improve your health and fitness in the upcoming year? Think of ways you can be healthier, eat better and get more exercise. It’s especially tough in the winter months, so come up with a plan to keep healthy and fit in the dark cold weeks ahead.

27: Collect all your goals and intentions for next year (relationships, health/ fitness, work/ school etc.) and decide your actions for January. What can you do to start working toward these goals?

28: What good things happened this month? What were your favorite moments this month?

29: Month review! How did this month go? Which goals did you complete? What do you still need to work on?

30: Look ahead to next month: what events do you need to prepare for?

31: It’s New Year’s Eve! Write down your final thoughts about 2016.
