November review: Giving thanks

Post Comment

Happy Thanksgiving

This year we are doing themed reviews every month. Each month will have a different theme, to get you to think more deeply about how you spent your time during the previous month. If you are doing our Page Per Day Challenge, it can be a topic for your daily writing. If you journal, these could be some journaling prompts for you.

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the USA, so it’s only right that today’s post on our month review topic should be about giving thanks.

Giving thanks is about more than just being thankful for our family, friends, food and home. It’s a chance to be purposely mindful about what we have: physical possessions, relationships, home comforts, opportunities. It’s about being grateful for what we have today, in our lives in general, and how we’ve been able to achieve success in our lives.

Research shows that focusing on what you are grateful for helps cultivate a positive mindset and can make you more optimistic overall.

Think/ journal about the following questions:

What are you thankful for today? What are you thankful for this month? This year?

Who has made a difference in your life? What are some things people have done for you that changed your life for the positive? How can you express your gratitude to them?

What are some ways you can focus on the positive? Some ideas: journal about 3 things you are grateful for each day, say “thank you” to at least three people every day. What are some other things you can do to focus on gratitude?

Themed month reviews are on the last Thursday of every month. You can see all the Month Review posts here, and in the sidebar under the pull-down menu under Month Review.
