Clairefontaine Roadbooks

Post Comment

Calling all travelers, hikers, backpackers, bikers, and people who love the outdoors…the pleasure of your company is requested!

I would like to get some feedback and photos from the field on how well Clairefontaine Roadbooks perform as a travel journal or notebook.  How do they hold up in your backpack or day pack? Are they a good companion for your notes and observations?

Roadbooks come in two sizes:  3 1/2 x 5 1/2 and 6 x 8 1/4.  64 ruled sheets, 90g ruled white paper, elastic closure and printed flyleaf and end leaf for personalization. The cover is deep-dyed hardboard with leather effect.  Colors include black, tan, red, green and blue.

If you would be willing to take one along on an upcoming trip or excursion, and follow up with a photo and short review on its performance, please let me know by a comment on this post.  I’ll get in touch.

Thanks so much.

  1. I’ll be traveling out to CA by car in March and taking an Alaska cruise in May, will be journaling throughout both trips. Would be happy to test out either size Roadbook with my fountain pens and include pictures.

  2. Count me in as an eager tester! I always have a journal with me and write wherever I am, from the car to the doctor’s office to the cafe to the beach.

  3. I would love to try one of the 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 Roadbooks on my day hikes to keep track of my Advanced Master Naturalist volunteer hours and also to keep track of our Bicentennial Birding Big Year that we are attempting here in Indiana. I would be very happy to review it and tell how it performs for me.

  4. I live at the base of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, and, once the snow clears out, my family will be taking weekly (or so) hikes through some of the most gorgeous trails, canyons, and mountains of the state, along with a couple of road trips to nearby state and national parks. And I volunteer for a trail maintenance project or two every year, as well. It will take me a few months to give these notebooks a thorough workout, but I’d love to!

  5. My mom and I hike frequently and always have a notebook to record bird species, etc. We’re also participating in a number of outdoor challenges to celebrate the Bicentennial of Indiana’s statehood. She maintains a nature blog, and she and I would both be able to review this. 🙂

  6. I would love to try one of the Roadbooks out and review how well it performs. I am a golf course superintendent and am managing two properties so I always have a notebook in my pocket or golf cart while working on the course to make notes of things needing to be done and conditions of greens. I spend most of my time working outside and would love to have a good notebook that is fountain pen friendly along with me.
