Last year at Thanksgiving I wrote a post on how focusing on things you are grateful for increases happiness (studies show). I mentioned that it’s a great 30-day challenge to write three things every day that you are grateful for.

A friend of mine did that last year: 30 days of gratitude. Her catch was, she had to come up with three NEW things every day. No repeating, over the entire 30 days. She said the gratitude lists got pretty creative by the end, and it was an interesting experiment.

Daily gratitude would be a great exercise for our 2016 Page Per Day Challenge (which officially starts January 1st but some people have started it already). Writing something you are grateful for every day would be an excellent lesson in positivity. And how nice would it be to look back through your book at the end of the year and see all the good things you were grateful for all year.

I’m definitely going to incorporate gratitude/ good things that happened into my daily pages. An interesting experiment would be to write the same number of positive things/ things you are grateful for as the number of days in the year. For example, January 1st is the first day of the year so you would write one positive thing or thing you are grateful for that day. February 20th is the 51st day of the year, so that day you would write 51 positive things. 2016 is a leap year, so on the last day you would write 366 positive things! I don’t know if I’m up for that challenge, are you?

  1. I see a lot of those in the planner community utilizing a page in their planners or notebooks as a gratitude journal. I do keep a personal journal for some deep writing, but I may want to try incorporating this into my daily planner page or even use my rarely-used monthly spread to put the item of gratitude in.
