Writing Wednesday: Journaling prompts

three things

A great way to get your journaling juices flowing is to use journaling prompts in the form of questions you answer. These can be anything from, what were three things that went well this week, to bigger questions like the following:

What was your favorite family vacation you took as a child?

What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been?

What was a time that was especially hard for you, and how did you get through it?

If you search online for “journaling prompts” you’ll find plenty of ideas. I’ve even seen the idea of a “journaling jar,” where you write journaling prompts on slips of paper and put them into the jar. When you need a new writing topic, you pull a prompt out of the jar and write on that theme.

Do you use journaling prompts? What types of prompts do you like to use?
