Writing Wednesdays: Guilty pleasures

We’ve already talked about the Great Books we haven’t read… what about the non-great books we read instead, or the great ones we can’t help rereading every few years? (I’m looking at you, Sherlock Holmes.)

Thrillers? Pulp fiction? I used to buy copies of silly fashion magazines when I wanted to unwind, though lately I don’t feel like dealing with the extra weight in my bag, or the advice I’m too harried to heed.

Readers, what’s your poison?

  1. I have annual rereads of Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series, Anne McCaffrey’s Pern novels (and whatever new ones her son has also written), and Harry Potter.

  2. Around every ten years or so, since 1970, I rediscover with renewed pleasure and nostalgia, the ‘aviation flavoured with a twist of mysticism’ books by Richard Bach.
Particularly appropriate as our local airfield at Manston in Kent has just been bought and immediately closed down by a strange Scottish businesswoman who wants to build houses all over it!
