Writing Wednesdays: Book groups

Post Comment

I would call myself an avid reader (though my progress has been slowed by my son — Goodnight Moon for the 150th time, anyone?), and I also enjoy discussing books with friends, when I get the chance. However, I haven’t belonged to a book group since high school, when my friends and I founded a club we called Salon #49 — which is still going strong, I see!

I’m not sure why this is, other than the fact that I was always nervous about the time commitment… though if my pre-parent self knew just how much less time she’d have now, she might just have been shamed into doing it.

Are you in a book group or club? What are you reading right now?

  1. I am reading a couple of things right now: I just started C.S. Harris’ latest Sebastian St. Cyr mystery Why Kings Confess, and I am also reading The Big Book of Christmas Mysteries edited by Otto Penzler, and The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness. I keep a list of what books sound interesting and then I usually pick them up at the library. It’s fun to go back to my list and check which books I’ve read. Sometimes I surprise myself by everything I have read. It makes me feel that I have accomplished something.
