Holiday dressing

Lani Rosenstock is a New York based style consultant whose philosophy is that fashion is about being confident in your own unique look. Here, she’s back with some advice about dressing for the holidays.

It comes at the same time every year: the panic that sets in upon receiving that first holiday party invitation. Women have actually been known to turn down coveted party invitations because they have nothing to wear.

This year I challenge you to be prepared before you receive that first invitation.

What you need is a holiday party capsule wardrobe. Start with a pretty party dress that has a bit of shine as well as a simple black dress that can take you anywhere with a change of accessories.

You’ll also need a simple black wrap, a pair of costume earrings that sparkle and a shoe that can take you from a post work party to a cocktail event. I would suggest a peep toe pump in patent, not as overdressed as satin but capable of going from work to dinner and cocktail events.

How to make your holiday look modern this season? Skip the sheer hose and go with black opaque tights that have some control so you can have a few more holiday treats.
